PARISH GOVERNMENT TO HOST TWO AUCTIONS IN MAY
For immediate release May 1, 2008
LULING – The St. Charles Parish Purchasing Office is organizing auction events to be held May 3 and 17 beginning at 11 a.m. at the site of the old Winn-Dixie, 1313 Paul Maillard Road.
The May 3 event will feature large equipment, including surplus vehicles and miscellaneous pumps, said Bobby Donaldson, St. Charles Parish Purchasing Officer. The May 17 auction will feature out-of-use office machines and supplies as well as other small items.
Prospective participants are invited to preview auction items the Thusday and Friday before the events from noon to 4 p.m. and the day of the events from 8 to 11 a.m.
Donaldson said the auction would both reduce the parish’s outside storage costs and gain it some extra money. Auctioning off surplus assets will also eliminate the chance for missing surplus items.
Those buying auction items must present a cashier’s check, bank letter of credit or cash. A professional auctioneer will handle both auctions.
Parish employees are prohibited by state law from buying items at auction.
The mission of St. Charles Parish government is to provide high quality, efficient services to sustain and enhance the quality of life for all residents of St. Charles Parish.
