FIREWORKS STILL ILLEGAL IN ST. CHARLES PARISH
Posted Date: 12/21/2011

Despite the fact that fireworks are legally possessed and sold in St. John, Lafourche and parts of Jefferson Parish, they are still ILLEGAL in St. Charles Parish.

Lafourche Parish has expanded the dates of sales, and the Sheriff’s Office is already beginning to receive fireworks complaints. Deputies WILL be doing their best to enforce the St. Charles Parish fireworks ordinance.

Anyone caught expending or possessing fireworks is subject to being cited and the fireworks seized as contraband. Deputies will not catch everyone since many insist upon violating this law. However, consider yourself warned.

Take your neighbors’ rights into consideration. Fireworks negatively affect our senior population the most. While many of you also disagree with this ordinance, it is still the Sheriff’s Office job to enforce it.

Please make any feelings known to the contrary to your Parish Council representative.

Everyone should also be aware that the discharging of fireworks can be dangerous, and you could be liable for damage done to your neighbor's property or other persons.
