St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter adopts pets through the St. Charles Humane Society for a fee of $80
(cash or check only), which includes the cost for boosters
, rabies vaccination
, spaying or neutering
, flea and tick control
Potential adopters will be required to complete a St. Charles Humane Society Pet Adoption Questionnaire
, Microchip Owner Form and Adoption Certification. Adopters will be required to present a driver's license as a form of identification.
The completed forms will be thoroughly reviewed by the shelter staff before approval. After approval, the new owner will be given the health record of the animal, rabies tag, microchip tag, a copy of the adoption certificate, information from the Humane Society veterinarian regarding care of the pet, a prescription for flea or tick prevention (if applicable) and a free bag of pet food. Drop in at the shelter
during adoption hours, 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to view and adopt. The shelter is also open the first and third Saturdays of each month (unless otherwise noted in the web calendar
) for adoption showings. This means that potential adopters can interact with and view pets as well as fill out an application, and final approval and pet pickup will take place the following Monday or within the next week.Inquire about any pets up for adoption by contacting the shelter.AT PETSMART:
From 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. every Saturday (except the first Saturday) of the month volunteers from the St. Charles Humane Society bring at least three adoptable dogs to PetSmart, 6851 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie. Adoptable cats are available at that location daily during regular business hours.

Cash or check donations may be brought to the shelter or mailed to the St. Charles Humane Society, P.O. Box 1331, Luling, LA 70070.
