Safe Drinking Water Fee Each community water system will be responsible to collect $3.20 per active account for the Safe Drinking Water Program. This fee is mandated by the state legislature.
The Department of Health and Hospitals Office of Public Health was authorized to assess Safe Drinking Water Program management fees by Act 125 of the First Extraordinary Session of the 2000 Louisiana Legislature. These fees will be invoiced annually on St. Charles Parish Waterworks' bills each July.
On July 10, 2000, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 00-7-2, amending Chapter 23 Article I Section 23-2, III (Water Service Charges) of the Code to add No. 3: Safe Drinking Water Program management fee for the sum of $3.20 annually. The first of these fees were assessed by St. Charles Parish Waterworks on the July 2000 bills. Citizens can expect to see this fee assessed on their July bills annually.
