Who: 26 Council on Aging YAHYA’S members (Eastbank and Westbank members and senior 60+ of the parish) attended
When: November 16, 2007; 12noon – 2:00p.m.
Place: 626 Pine Street, Hahnville Activity Center
Theme: Holiday Hat Pageant
Highlights:
- Food Drive-each member brought a nonperishable food item for a Thanksgiving outreach project to be donated to St. Charles Social Concern Food Pantry
- Welcome and Group History Presentation- by Stephanie Boudreaux COA Adm. Mgr.- Cntr. and Dolly Bergeron YAHYA’s Vice Queen
- Pin Presentation- by Sue Egnelly of the United Way of St. Charles to Active YAHYA’S Members
- Holiday Hat Pageant- an activity chosen by members, each decorated a hat depicting a calendar holiday they drew randomly from a hat drawing 2 months earlier
- Participation- was great and hat entries were outstandingly beautiful and creative.
- Awards- the pageant was judged and prizes were given 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 3 catagories ( Theme, Personality and Showmanship) and 1- grand prize over all winner was selected
- Italian Cookie History and Demo- By Master Baker Cynthia Portera of Potera’s Bakery in Destrehan
- Door Prizes and Games were enjoyed
- Induction of 5 New Members was a grand part of the Social
- Refreshments were savored, Hot Cider Punch, Gingerbread, nuts and Potera’s Angel Lush Cake
