Highlights:
The LSU Rural Life Museum was visited Wednesday, February 13, 2008 by 16 St. Charles Parish Senior Citizens. The guided tour was very interesting and informative. Seniors viewed rural living in south Louisiana and the importance it had to the economy of an era. A reconstructed village with it’s rural landscape allowed seniors to relive what it must have been like in the late 1700 and 1800’s. With mills, slaves, sick houses and outhouses life was not easy; it was grueling and treacherous at times. Life was what persons cut out of the land, and was a testament to family and hard work. This museum honors them- the common folk- who carved the paths for the Louisianan way of life today.
An afternoon lunch was enjoyed at Ralph and Kaccoo’s in Baton Rouge. Southern hospitality and tantalizing tastes were the attraction as well as the wholesome fellowship experience.
COA Travel Club offers travel opportunities to St. Charles Parish Seniors 60 years and older, featuring a different destination and/or attraction monthly.
