Colonel Kirk R. Granier is a
retired Reserve Circuit Military Judge.
Before retirement he was assigned to the Air
Reserve Personnel
Center, Robbins AFB, Georgia (Administrative) and to the Air Force
Legal Services Agency - Trial Judiciary Central Circuit, Randolph AFB, Texas
(Training). He served as a Military
Judge in United States Military Courts-Martial, NEPA Environmental Impact
Hearings, Parole Violation Hearings and as a TRIALS
Team training judge (NITA training methods). In his civilian occupation he sits
as a State District Judge in Louisiana’s
29th Judicial District exercising general jurisdiction over felony and
misdemeanor criminal cases, juvenile cases & general civil cases.
Colonel
Granier received his commission through the Air Force ROTC program in 1976
after completing college on a U.S. Air Force ROTC Flight Training Scholarship.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, in History, with a
minor in Aerospace Science from the University
of Louisiana at Nicholls.
He served as Commander of the AFROTC Corp of Cadets during his senior year and
was selected captain of the University Debate Team during his junior and senior
years. After receiving an educational delay, he attended the Loyola University
School of Law (New Orleans),
graduating in 1979. He served on active duty as an Assistant Staff Judge
Advocate, then Area Defense Counsel at Whiteman AFB, Missouri from 1979 until 1983. He entered
the JAG Reserve in 1983 serving at the 16th Special Operations Wing,
Hurlburt Field, Florida
until his assignment to USAF Trial Judiciary, Washington DC
as a Reserve Military Judge in 1998.
